My NEWA device is crackling. Is this safe?Updated 7 days ago
We reached out to NEWA, the manufacturer of the device, and this is their response:
In most cases if you are hearing crackling, popping, you more than likely have a buildup of gel around the metal probes and possibly around the temperature sensor. When this happens it can disrupt the device's ability to regulate the temperature and could overheat and burn the skin. We usually advise that you be sure to thoroughly clean your device after each use with a damp cloth, no soap - just warm water. You can also occasionally use a small amount of alcohol on a pad and gently clean around the probes and temperature sensor.
Be sure that during treatments all 6 probes are touching your skin at all times. Make sure to clean the probes thoroughly after each use. You might find this video helpful on how to properly clean your device: https://mynewa.com/education/.
